Fiera Milano and Fiera Milano city are the two Milan Exhibition Centers where you can visit during all year, many different exhibitions and market shows of fashion, antiques, design, technology and everything for discovering the latest market trends (www.fieramilano.it).

Shopping

Fashion Milan is very famous because fashion. The "Quadrangle of Fashion" district near the city's center of Via Montenapoleone, Via Andrea, Via Gesí, Via Borgospesso, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia where the most important fashion designers offer there luxurious creations; but do not forget to visit Corso Vittorio Emanuelle, Zona Brera, Corso Como, Corso Buenos Aires. Every Saturday there is Fiera di Senigallia, a traditional market of crafts, clothing, second-hand goods and various other items (Zone -Porta Genova). Also there is Mercato dell'Antiquariato, a very important antique market with approximately 400 exhibitors the last Sunday of each month (Naviglio Grande).

There are 2 periods for Sales in Milan:

  1. Summer sale begins the first Saturday in July until August.
  2. Winter sale begins the first Saturday in January after the Holiday Period until mid February.

Tips:

  1. Many shops are closed for vacations in August.
  2. Almost all shops including pharmacies are closed on Monday morning.

Eating and Drinking:

NaviglioThe history of Milan is closely connected with a system of canals, that pass through the whole city. The area characterized by the Navigli is certainly one of the most picturesque of Milan. Typical, old Milan houses, old wash-houses with wooden beamed roofs and craftsmen's workshops remember on passed times. Today you find boutiques and ateliers of artist of Milan, cafes, restaurants, trattoria and old moored barges fitted out as bars for meeting the typical atmosphere and the young Milan people.

In the surroundings of the Brera Academy and Pinacoteca di Brera that contains one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings (Zona Brera) there are so many Cocktail Bars very chic to visit by night and so many interesting boutiques to visit by day.

If you are a fan of Automobile Speed visit The National Autodrome of Monza which is an automobile circuit situated within the Park of Monza (14 km. from Milan); famous throughout the world for hosting the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix, organized by the Automobile Club of Milan.

Climate

Milan is typically classified as having a Humid subtropical climate (Cfa). In contrast to most of Italy, which is famous for a comfortable Mediterranean climate, Milan's winters are typically damp and cold, while summers are warm and quite muggy at times.

Average temperatures are -3/+6°C in January and +15/+28°C in July. Snowfalls are relatively common in winter, even if in the last 15-20 years they have decreased in frequency and amount. The historic average of Milan's area is between 35 and 45 cm (16"/18"); single snowfalls over 30-50 cm in 1-3 days happen periodically, with a record of 80-100 cm during the famous snowfall of January 1985. Humidity is quite high during the whole year and annual precipitation averages about 1000 mm (40 in).
